Ezra’s Live Birth

I was so honored when Amber asked me to photograph her 4th baby. It was her first time doing a natural birth and I know she was nervous. I think we must have talked for 12 hours about the whole thing between our texts and phone calls. I was more nervous that I wouldn’t be FREE on the time and hour that she called. But, deep inside I kept thinking… it will just all work out. And it did.
Because little Ezra was born in the middle of the night. Amber called me at 1am and very calmly told me that her water just broke. As I arrived at Origins Birth Center, it was so quiet and calm. The midwives present, Gina and Angela obviously knew what they were doing and appeared confident and under control. I think I was the only one that didn’t know what was about to happen. I have birthed one child. But, not like this. I wanted to do a natural birth but, a part of me has to feel in control at all moments. So when I gave birth, I found a doctor that would give me what I wanted IF I wanted it. And in the end… I got it. That was my experience. And I don’t regret it now.
But, if I were to do it again, I just might consider….
Amber is my hero! She held her own like a champ the whole way through. I’m in awe of her and her precious family. She is the type of person that is so positive and just really special.
A part of me finds it very difficult to post this. I have friends who have struggled with having children. I have friends who have VERY difficult pregnancies. And I’m not posting this to make any woman feel badly about her own experience. WE all have our stories, differences, and our beliefs. God has His plan and timing for all of us. This plan played out around 3:00 am. Thank you Rojas Family for allowing me in on it….
